Note:
We have slightly paraphrased the biblical text, notably at Ruth 2:20, 4:6 and the closing paragraph of chapter 4.
Also, at Ruth 3:10, we have interpolated the words of another Old Testament book - Hosea 2:19-20. We aren't suggesting any historical or textual basis for this. Hosea's gracious and noble words seem to us to match the emotions and integrity of Boaz at this point in the story, so we have included them to amplify our interpretation of the drama.
